Doing pretty well

Just got off of work for the campus transport system, L.I.M.O. Work was going pretty well towards the beginning. The night started off furiously and we rarely had that chance to catch our breaths until about 9 or 10. Then everyone mysteriously just stopped calling. This is a rare happening as there are always people who are either too lazy, too cold, or too scared to walk home. Somehow people found a way to amuse themselves for a good couple of hours though as the last couple of hours at work sort of dragged on.
School has started out pretty well here. I'm only taking 12 credits this semester and so far so good. I still find myself waking up in the morning and wanting anything else except the requirement to go to class, but at least I've stopped giving myself mini stomachaches due to anxiety. I've decided that I thoroughly dislike two-day a week hour and fifteen minute classes (the usual class is MWF for 50 min). I think that my body is so used to the 50 min classes that I start losing my attention span when that time hits for my longer classes. At least they are numbers classes (Statistics and Fatigue and Fracture in Mechanical Design) so I don't have to think very hard.
On an offhand note, I'm sort of at an impass considering my romantic situation. For those not clued into what I've been doing, I've been dating Diane for almost three years now (anniversary is about 6 days from now). Unfortunately I'm not completely sure that I really want to be with her anymore. We have been in a somewhat rocky stage now for almost a year. I feel as though she does not treat me well and unfortunately that seems to be the impression that she has left on my friends as well. I like her when she is being good and cooperative and such, but as one friend put it recently, "Although you put up with the good and the bad, when the bad consistently outweighs the good you should probably reevaluate things." Unfortunately I'm sort of starting to think that my times with her are swaying more towards the bad side. Another case in point came when my friend Claire asked me why I'm still with her. The only reason that I could really come up with was that, "I really do like her." I couldn't really think of any reason not to be with her either though. Of course it doesn't help that I kind of think that I sort of like Claire too though. Gah, me and yearning after girls who will never go for me. And yes, I have breached that subject, lightly thankfully, and was reminded that "No, I was not her type." Nonetheless, I'm kind of afraid now that I'm just staying with Diane because it's comfortable and it's what I'm used to doing. Claire says that I need to break up with her, even if it is just for a few months, in order to be able to grow. My fraternity brothers have kind of dislike her and thought that I should get rid of her for a while now. And I've found that even some of her friends don't think that we should be together or are curious why I'm still with her. Oh well, such is life.
I'll keep those of you all who still read this updated, but for now I need to get to sleep so that I can wake up for class tomorrow morning. Good night!

So, I'm back at school again and feeling as though this semester could work out fairly well. I'm still with Diane, I'm still at Marquette, and heck, I'm still a Mechanical Engineer. They haven't managed to scare me away or fail me somehow yet. Still kind of waffling about what I'm going to do once I get out though. See the two choices are basically to go to grad school (only a masters, there really isn't a whole bunch of an advantage to getting my PhD unless I decide to go crazy and teach) or to basically join the workforce after next year (as long as I don't manage to waste away some semester and end up graduating later than I thought). On the one hand a master's would give me a greater opportunity in the work world and quite possibly a bigger paycheck, but if I went that way then I would have to apply to grad school and then do a year or two more work. Oh well, hopefully I'll be able to keep up the blogging. Kind of gives me an outlet.

New Year's Resolution?

So I know that it's just a little early to start in on New Year's Resolutions, but I'm hoping that maybe I'll even get a good jumpstart on this one. I resolve...to STOP STARTING HOMEWORK AND STUDYING THE NIGHT BEFOREHAND! I'm currently sitting in the Engineering Computer Lab looking at microstructures for Aluminum and Copper for my Materials Selection test tomorrow and I still have a couple of Thermodynamics problems that I need to finish up. (I at least have two done and two almost done, just one more to go) I think that the whole, putting myself under pressure in order to do better is starting to backfire as I suddenly need more time to study for tests than I needed to in the past *cough* high school *cough*. Of course I know that New Year's Resolutions usually get broken within a couple of weeks of the new year just because they were made, but I really need to stick by this one. Oh well, back to work.

Maybe I'll get more than four hours tonight. *grumble grumble* Stupid picking a hard major *grumble*
